I had a truly enchanting stay at this hidden gem nestled beside a serene lake. The old-world charm of the house and its beautifully maintained decor transported me to a bygone era. The staff were attentive, accommodating, and made me feel right at home. The highlight of my stay was the exceptional dinner in the lakeside room; each dish was a culinary masterpiece that left me speechless. Although there was no TV in the room, the lack of distractions only added to the peaceful ambiance. The picturesque surroundings and tranquility of the retreat made it the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I highly recommend Carrig Country House & Restaurant for an idyllic and unforgettable retreat.

The location of the hotel is beautiful, with a magical lake and stunning views of the mountains. Guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and relax in the well-maintained house, with lovely wall papers and cozy drawing rooms. The staff is welcoming and attentive, providing an excellent service throughout the stay. The rooms are comfortable and some offer beautiful views of the lake. The restaurant offers delicious meals, comparable to Michelin-star restaurants, and the breakfast, although somewhat limited, can be enjoyed with a gorgeous view.
The hotel lacks extensive grounds for walks and activities, and the buffet breakfast could have a better selection of bread.

The country inn I stayed at was an authentic, historic place that offered warm hospitality and a beautiful, quiet location. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, with great views of either the gardens or the lake. The staff were friendly and genuinely caring, offering assistance with activities like hikes and tours. The restaurant served delicious meals, with a blend of old country Irish dishes and brilliant fusion flavors. There were plenty of sitting rooms with log fires, creating a cozy atmosphere for relaxation.
The prices for staying at this inn were quite expensive, although this is justified by the excellent service and the costs required to maintain such high quality. It would be great if they offered more midweek deals to make it more affordable for guests.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
